A Typical Day at
Silver Lining Preschool
When you arrive at the center, one of our staff will greet you and your child, as possible. If teachers are busy elsewhere, you will sign in your child and deliver him/her personally to the proper group. At this time, you can explain any changes in your schedule or special needs your child has that day.
For part of the day, your child will have supervised free play in different areas of the facility. These can include blocks, make believe, water play, housekeeping, library, personal computer time, and more. There is also group time where we explore music, cooking, gardening, science, social studies, story time, art and crafts, shapes, computers, etc.
Twice each day the children are taken outdoors (weather permitting) to play on our sturdy playground with equipment chosen for their age group. They can play in the sandbox, or play group games, climb, etc., all under close teacher supervision.
The center serves two light nutritive snacks a day using menus that may include foods the children often grow and prepare themselves! After lunch, all children lie down to rest. Children are asked to rest until 1:30 p.m. They may sleep or rest until 2:30 p.m. if they wish. At the end of the day, when you arrive to pick up your child, he/she will be having free play or group story time after a very busy day.
Our Philosophy at Silver Lining Preschool is to give children a feeling of security and safety so they can gain a feeling of independence and confidence through programs that offer age-appropriate learning and playing.
Clothing & Safety
While at Silver Lining, your child will want to play and be creative. Silver Lining believes that all children should be allowed to express themselves, and this usually means that your child will be getting messy. Please dress your child in comfortable and safe play clothes as all children like to experiment with texture while painting and playing.
The safety of our children is our #1 priority. We ask that you please make sure your child wears shoes that fit properly, and will not slip off while climbing, or playing.
Field Trips
We take full advantage of our community resources and have visitors from different occupations visit our school. To coordinate with our monthly themes, we also go on "field trips". Educational and fun, just the way we like it! If you would like to volunteer to assist on a field trip, please let us know, as your participation is always welcome.
